Brother Embroidery Software

Version 1.60
Release Notes

Aug, 1999

Thank you for purchasing Brother Embroidery Software (BE-100). BE-100 is an exciting step forward for embroidery design. Fast, easy, and powerful, you will find that BE-100 is more than capable of handling your embroidery needs.

What's New in Version 1.60

1. BE-100 is now fully compliant to the year 2000.

Even if the system date style has been set with two-digit year expression, Search Library by date functions properly for the files modified after 0:00 1/1/2000. In the case that the system date is set with two-digit year expression, the year 2000 will be shown as 00. However, we recommend that you use the four-digit year expression.
To set up the style of the system date, follow the steps below.
1) Open Windows Control Panel.
2) Open Regional Settings.
3) Chose Date tab.
4) In Short date and Long date style, select one with "yyyy" from the list boxes.
5) Click on OK.

2. Support for Brother .ECS files input/output has been added.

ECS files are used by MIECS type machines, such as BES-960/1260 and the new BES-1240.
Though MIECS system can import DST files, it will be better to use ECS files, which include more information than DST.

3. Support for Brother BAS-46/BES-110 files input/output has been added.

BAS-46/BES-110 files, which are not DOS compatible disk format, can be input and output. The font disks are excepted, however.

4. Support for Brother PE-Design .PES files input has been added.

PES files, which saved by PE-Design, a home-use embroidery system, can be opened or merged.

5. Support for Brother .HAS files input/output has been added.

HAS files can be used by BAS-412 machine.

6. Auto Lock Stitch between Letters has been improved.

Regardless of the connection settings between letters in a text shape, you can control whether or not to have auto lock stitches between letters in the shape.
The auto lock stitches between letters can be set in "Text Properties/General/Lock Stitch". If Start is checked, the start point of every letter in the text shape will have lock stitches. When End is checked, there will be lock stitches at the end of every letter.

7. Inputting 0.0 value for the maximum stitch length in Design Info dialog has been prohibited. A problem in which incorrect stitch count is shown in the status bar has been fixed by this improvement.

8. Spooler has supported machine ID.

BAS-416/401 and BES-1210 have supported machine ID, which are used with the highlevel protocol network system, since the last P-ROM version. You can assign specific designs to specific machines by using the machine ID. To use machine ID, follow the steps below.
1) Add a new machine ID in Spooler.
2) In BE-100 output dialog, select "BAS-416 Serial" in Machine and select the target machine ID in Destination.
3) Click OK to output the stitch file.
Regarding the P-ROM versions for machine ID support, please contact Brother Embroidery Systems representatives. If the machine does not support machine ID,
Spooler works as well as previous version.

9. STB algorithm has been improved.

The quality of converted outline data from stitch data has been improved.

Known Problem:

In BE-100 when millimeters are chosen as the measurement unit, the following occurs:
If a hundredth mm value is entered in Minimum (Maximum) Stitch Length in the File Menu/Design Info/Stitch Handling dialog, it will be rounded to a tenth of a mm.

For example, the valid range of the Minimum stitch length is between 0.0 and 1.0, but as a result of the rounding, it is possible to reach a value that exceeds the maximum value.
If this situation occurs the value can be changed in increments of a tenth of a mm.

NOTE: The measurement unit can be changed in the Options Menu/BES
Setup/Preferences/Units
