HOW TO UPGRADE


Windows 3.1 / 95 / 98 ( Using SETUP.EXE )

  1. Please make a temporary directory on your HDD to save the downloaded self-extracting file.
    e.g. C:\brodrv
  2. Click the model name to start downloading.
  3. Select the temporary directory as where to store the downloaded file.
  4. Extract the file.

  5. < Windows 95/98 >
    Double click on the file in Explorer, or click [Start], select [Run]. Then type the temporary directory and the file name (C:\brodrv\xxxx.exe). Then choose OK button.

    < Windows 3.1 >
    Double click on the file in File Manager, or choose [Run] from the [File] menu. Then type the temporary directory and the file name (C:\brodrv\xxxx.exe). Then choose OK button.

  6. Install the upgrade driver.
  7. <Windows 95 / 98 >
    Click [Start] in Windows 95/98, choose [Run], type [SETUP], and then press the OK button.
    e.g.. C:\brobrv\setup

    < Windows 3.1 >

    1. Open the [Program Manager] and click [File], [Run].
    2. Type SETUP followed by the temporary directory name and click [OK].
      e.g.. C:\brodrv\setup


Windows 3.1 / 95 / 98

  1. Please make a temporary directory on your HDD to save the downloaded self-extracting file.
    e.g. C:\brodrv
  2. Click the model name to start downloading.
  3. Select the temporary directory as where to store the downloaded file.
  4. Extract the file.
  5. <Windows 95/98>
    Double click on the file in Explorer, or click [Start], select [Run]. Then type the temporary directory and the file name (C:\brodrv\xxxx.exe). Then choose OK button.

    <Windows 3.1 >
    Double click on the file in File Manager, or choose [Run] from the [File] menu. Then type the temporary directory and the file name (C:\brodrv\xxxx.exe). Then choose OK button.

  6. Install the upgrade driver.
  7. < Windows 95 / 98>
    Click [Start] in Windows 95/98, choose [Run], type [SETUP], and then press the OK button.
    e.g.. C:\brobrv\setup or, click [Start], [Settings], [Printer], [Add Printer], then please follow the instruction.

    < Windows 3.1 >

    1. Open the [Program Manager] and click [File], [Run].
    2. Type SETUP followed by the temporary directory name and click [OK].
      e.g.. C:\brodrv\setup

    Or
    1. Click [Main], [Control Panel], [Printers].
    2. Click the [ADD] button.
    3. Select [Install Unlisted or Updated printer], then click the [Install...] button.
    4. Type SETUP followed by the temporary directory name and click [OK].
      e.g.. C:\brodrv\setup



Windows95/98 PPD files for BR-Script2 printer drivers
  1. Please make a temporary directory on your HDD to save the downloaded self-extracting file.
    e.g.. C:\brodnt
  2. Start downloading.
  3. Once downloading is complete, double click on the downloaded file to extract it.
  4. Click [Start], [Settings], [Printers] and [Add Printer].
    Then please follow the instruction on the screen.
  5. Set "Local printer" or "Network printer" for the target printer.
  6. Select a port.
  7. Click [Have a disk] and type the directory where the extracted files exist.
    e.g. C:\bront
  8. Select the model name.
  9. Click [Finish].
PLEASE NOTE:
You will need the original Windows CD-ROM that was supplied with your PC if you wish to install the BR-Script (postscript) printer driver into your PC. If your computer came pre-installed with Windows, then you may already have a back up files on your HDD called "Cab" files. These cab files contains compressed versions of all the files necessary to install Windows software. Please make sure that you can locate the CD-ROM or the Cab files before proceeding with the installation of the BR-Script (postscript) driver.



Windows3.1/95/98 for MFC7050C
  1. Download the 7050a2up.exe file to a directory on your local computer.
  2. Close all applications.
  3. Open Microsoft Windows Explorer/File Manager and locate the 7050a2up.exe file that was previously downloaded.
  4. Double click on the 7050a2up.exe.
  5. Click on the "Setup" button and then the "OK" dialog button.

Trouble Shooting Tips:
If the printer driver is currently being used by Windows and you receive an error message, (e.g., "SEQ.DRV is currently in use"), click on the "Abort" button, "Shutdown" and "Restart the Computer" using the "Start" button.
After the Windows Operating System has re-booted, execute steps 3 through 5. 



Windows NT 4.0, PCL printer driver for Brother monochrome laser printers

Before installing new driver, it is recommended to remove all old model drivers as the old and the new version are not compatible each other.

  1. Please make a temporary directory on your HDD to save the downloaded self-extracting file.
    e.g. C:\bront
  2. Click on the self-extracting file and select the temporary directory.
  3. Once downloading is complete, double click the file to extract it.

Please install the driver into the server first, then duplicate the driver to client PCs.
We strongly recommend that a server and a client PC use the same driver version.

< Installation into the server >

  1. Click [Start], [Settings], [Printers] and [Add Printer]. (Please follow the instruction on the screen.)
  2. Set "Local printer" or "Network printer" for the connected printer.
  3. Select a port.
  4. Click [Have a disk] and type the directory where the extracted files exist. e.g. C:\bront
  5. Select the model name
    e.g.,
    "Brother HL-630 series" should be used for HL-630/630M/631/641/645/645M/650/655M.
    "Brother HL-660 series" should be used for HL-660/660PS/665.
    "Brother HL-1260 series" should be used for HL-1260 and HL-960.

People who have installed Brother Windows NT drivers previously, proceed to step 9.
For those who have never installed Brother Windows NT driver, proceed to step 10.

  1. Select "Replace existing driver".
  2. Click [Finish].

< Duplicating the driver to client PCs >
Please follow this procedure after installing the driver on the server.

  1. Click [Network Neighborhood] and right click on the connected printer.
  2. Select [Install] from the menu.
  3. Select [Yes] to the question "Do you want to download the driver?"


Windows NT 4.0, PCL printer driver for HL-2400C

Before installing new driver, it is recommended to remove the current driver.

  1. Please make a temporary directory on your HDD to save the downloaded self-extracting file.
    e.g.. C:\bront
  2. Start downloading.
  3. Once downloading is complete, double click on the downloaded file to extract it. There will be 2 directories "Disk1" and "Disk2" in the temporary directory.
  4. Click [Start], [Run] and type in SETUP followed by the temporary directory name and click [OK].
    e.g.. C:\bront\disk1\setup
  5. During the installation, a dialog box asking "Do you want to make a setup disk? Which allows you to install the driver from Add Printer Wizard." Please click YES. Then please follow the instruction on the screen.

If your HL-2400C is going to be shared with another PC, it is necessary to re-install the printer driver again using ADD PRINTER. Please proceed next step.

  1. Click [Start], [Settings], [Printers] and [Add Printer].
  2. Set "Local printer" or "Network printer" for the target printer.
  3. Select a port.
  4. Click [Have a disk] and type the directory created by step 5.
    e.g. C:\BRHL2400\install
  5. Select the model name and follow the instruction on the screen.
When your HL-2400C is going to be shared, you should install the printer driver locally in each PC, and then network installation from server PC should be done. Otherwise the printer driver will not work properly, or there would be possibility the following settings become invalid in some applications.;

1 in N printing, such as 1 in 4 (400%)

We strongly recommend that a server and a client PC use the same driver version.

Before installing new driver, it is recommended to remove the current driver.

  3. Once downloading is complete, double click on the downloaded file to extract it. There will be 3 directories "Disk1", "Disk2" and "Disk3" in the temporary directory.
  4. Click [Start], [Run] and type in SETUP followed by the temporary directory name and click [OK]. < br>e.g.. C:\bront\disk1\setup
  5. During the installation, you will see a dialog box asking "Do you want to make a setup disk? Which allows you to install the driver from Add Printer Wizard.". Please click YES. Then please follow the instruction on the screen.

If your MC-3000 is going to be shared with another PC, it is necessary to re-install the printer driver again using ADD PRINTER. Please proceed next step.

  1. Click [Start], [Settings], [Printers] and [Add Printer].
  2. Set "Local printer" or "Network printer" for the target printer.
  3. Select a port.
  4. Click [Have a disk] and type the directory created by step 5.
    e.g. C:\MC3000\install
  5. Select the model name and follow the instruction on the screen.

    • You have to reset the printer port to BRFC:, when executing SCAN by using the TWAIN driver. If a PC which has MC-3000 as a local printer has 2 copies of the MC-3000 printer driver installed, please set one from LPT1 or BRFC for each copy.

    However, with the LPT1: port,

    • You may have a problem if you attempt to scan and print at the same time.
    • You may have a problem if you attempt to print when the resource manager is launched.

    [How to set the printer port to LPT]

    1. Click [Start] and select [Setting] and [Printers].
    2. Select the MC-3000 and open [Properties].
    3. Click the 'Details' tab.
    4. Select LPT1 for the 'Print to the following port' box.

    When your MC-3000 is going to be shared, you should install the printer driver locally in each PC, and then network installation from server PC should be done. Otherwise the printer driver will not work properly, or there would be possibility the following settings become invalid in some applications.;

Before installing new driver, it is recommended to remove the current driver.

  3. Once downloading is complete, double click on the downloaded file to extract it. There will be 2 directories "Disk1" and "Disk2" in the temporary directory.
  4. Click [Start], [Run] and type in SETUP followed by the temporary directory name and click [OK].
    e.g.. C:\bront\disk1\setup
  5. During the installation, you will see a dialog box asking "Do you want to make a setup disk? Which allows you to install the driver from Add Printer Wizard.". Please click YES. Then please follow the instruction on the screen.

If your MP-21C/CDX is going to be shared with another PC, it is necessary to re-install the printer driver again using ADD PRINTER. Please proceed next step.

  1. Click [Start], [Settings], [Printers] and [Add Printer].
  2. Set "Local printer" or "Network printer" for the target printer.
  3. Select a port.
  4. Click [Have a disk] and type the directory created by step 5.
    e.g. C:\brmp21\install
  5. Select the model name and follow the instruction on the screen.

When your MP-21C/CDX is going to be shared, you should install the printer driver locally in each PC, and then network installation from server PC should be done. Otherwise the printer driver will not work properly, or there would be possibility the following settings become invalid in some applications.;

    Then please follow the instruction on the screen.
  5. Set "Local printer" or "Network printer" for the target printer.
  6. Select a port.
  7. Click [Have a disk] and type the directory where the extracted files exist.
    e.g. C:\bront
  8. Select the model name.
  9. Click [Finish].

< Duplicating the driver to client PCs >
Please follow this procedure after installing the driver on the server.

  3. Select a port.
  4. Click [Have a disk] and type the directory created by step 5.
    e.g. C:\BRMP2000\install
  5. Select the model name and follow the instruction on the screen.
When your MFC-P2000 or HL-P2000 is going to be shared, you should install the printer driver locally in each PC, and then network installation from server PC should be done. Otherwise the printer driver will not work properly, or there would be possibility the following settings become invalid in some applications.;

USB driver

  1. Please make a temporary directory on your HDD to save the downloaded self-extracting file.
    e.g. C:\brodrv
  2. Click the model name to start downloading.
  3. Select the temporary directory as where to store the downloaded file.
  4. Extract the file.

  5. Double click on the file in Explorer, or click [Start], select [Run]. Then type the temporary directory and the file name (C:\brodrv\xxxx.exe). Then choose OK button.

  6. Copy all the extracted files in C:/brodrv onto a formatted floppy disk.
  7. Turn the printer power off and connect your PC and printer with the USB interface cable.
  8. Turn the printer power on.
  9. The Plug & Play dialog box will appear on your PC. Click the Next button.



Windows NT 4.0, GDI printer driver for FAX2750 and FAX3750

  1. Please make a temporary directory on your HDD to save the downloaded self-extracting file.
    e.g. C:\bront
  2. Click on the self-extracting file and select the temporary directory.
  3. Once downloading is complete, double-click the file to extract it.

Please install the driver into the server first, then duplicate the driver to client PCs.
We strongly recommend that a server and a client PC use the same driver version.

< Installation into the server >

  1. Click [Start], [Settings], [Printers] and [Add Printer]. (Please follow the instruction on the screen.)
  2. Select [My Computer] and click [Next].
  3. Select the Port you will use (we recommend LPT1), and click [Next].
  4. Click [Have disk] and type the directory where the extracted files exist. e.g. C:\bront
  5. Click [OK].
