Internet Explorer User: Instructions to install/upgrade the ActiveX control

By installing ActiveX on your computer, you will be able to use the Brother CreativeCentre. Please read the instructions below on how to install and use ActiveX.

Shortcut to Download ActiveX Package

In order to use the Brother CreativeCentre, you need to:

  1. 1. Meet the minimum system requirements.
  2. 2. Make sure that you have enabled ActiveX in your browser
  3. 3. Download and install the Brother CreativeCentre ActiveX package

1. Meet the minimum system requirements

In order to use the Brother CreativeCentre in Internet Explorer, you need to have one of the following applications and operating systems on your computer:

Internet Explorer 6.0

No special instructions needed.

Windows 2000

Download GDIPLUS.DLL and put it under C:\Windows\system32 or C:\WINNT\system32. Download this file below:

Internet Explorer 7.0 or 8.0 on Windows XP

  1. Select Tools | Internet Options.
  2. Click on Security | Internet icon| Custom Level.
  3. In the Security Settings dialog, scroll down and make sure that the "Allow previously unused ActiveX controls to run without prompting" is enabled.

Internet Explorer 7.0 or 8.0 on Windows Vista

  1. Select Tools | Internet Options – you can find it in the upper right corner of your Internet Explorer browser window.
  2. Go to the "Security" tab, highlight the "Trusted Sites" icon (green check mark) and click the "Sites" button.
  3. "Uncheck" the small checkbox labeled: "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone" then click the "Add" button to add http://www.brother.com and http://a1295.g.akamai.net to your list of trusted sites and click "Close".
  4. Click OK to save your new settings

Brother recommends adding these two URLs to your "Trusted sites". However, if you are not comfortable modifying this area, please try the following:


  1. Select Tools | Internet Options.
  2. On the Security tab, make sure "Enable Protected Mode" is disabled.
  3. Select Tools | Internet Options | Click on Security | Internet icon | Custom Level.
  4. In the Security Settings dialog, scroll down and make sure that the "Allow previously unused ActiveX controls to run without prompting" is enabled.
  5. In the Security Settings dialog, scroll down and make sure that the "Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls" is enabled.

3. Download and install the Brother CreativeCenter ActiveX package

You need to install this package the first time you visit this site, or when there's an upgrade version. Click Download ActiveX Package, then choose "Run" to install the control.
