Building systems and environments to continue developing a diversified global workforce

As our business development globalizes, the diversification of our workforce seen by nationalities, values and lifestyles is accelerating.
Within this process, it is important that we continue to be a "company defined by its people". This is necessary for each employee to share the Brother Group Global Charter and sense one's personal growth through work at the same time. This should make them proud to be a part of Brother.
To do this, an emphasis was placed on recruiting the best human resources in each country, training next generation leaders and professionals, rotating global human resources, supporting career development as an incentive, building better workplace environments and other key points in setting targets for the next 3-year period.
In FY2008, efforts are being directed at starting up a new organization and systems as the first steps to achieving that.

Achievements in FY2008

  • •Activities aimed at fomenting a common understanding of the fundamental principles of all employee actions as laid out in the Brother Group Global Charter were constructively developed around the world.
  • •New systems for developing young employees were launched, as starters, in Japan, including an overseas training program for sending young employees to group companies outside of Japan, and a mentoring program in which experienced employees help younger employees to grow autonomously.
  • •Efforts were made to develop the next generation of leaders and professionals, such as a human resource development and training program in Canada and encouragement for employees to obtain quality control certification in Japan.
  • •Unified personnel policy was deployed to all sales facilities in Europe along with the explanation on job profiles.
  • •Workplace environments around the world were improved via safety and health efforts, etc.
