Environmental awareness of the Brother Group

Global warming recognized as one of the biggest issues to address as a company

More people worldwide are accepting the truth about global warming and the first commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol having started in 2008. The Brother Group recognizes that measures against global warming are one of the biggest issues for businesses to deal with. As a manufacturer who makes and sells energy-consuming products such as facsimiles and printers, Brother needs to place top priority on reducing CO2 emissions not only from our own business sites but also in the use and transport of our products.

Economic development in emerging nations and other factors have fueled a sense of crisis over the draining of natural resources, intensifying competition to secure resources and elevating the importance of material recycling. Meanwhile, human and environmental contamination caused by hazardous chemical substances cannot be overlooked any longer. Today, equipment manufacturers are required to put chemical substances (those used in products in particular) under stringent control.

In this situation, the Brother Group, which develops business globally, views energy conservation with manufacturing facilities and products, resource collection and recycling, and measures for chemical substances as very important issues and is thus working to minimize environmental loads in all areas of business as part of the effort to achieve sustainable development in every country and territory of operation. Moreover, Brother is constructively involved in interactive environmental communication so that all stakeholders know and welcome these efforts.
