--- Comments from Mr. Yasui ---
It is a great honor to receive The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, and more than I deserve. This award is really thanks to all the continuing support given to us by our valued business colleagues: in local economic organizations, and the sewing machine and business machine industries. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to you all for extending us years of kind cooperation.

Brother began as a sewing machine repair shop and, over time, has shifted its core business to information and communications equipment. Through our first 100 years, we have succeeded as a business by dedicating ourselves to excellence in manufacturing. As an engineer, it has been my great pleasure to engage in technological development at Brother, creating products and services with superior value for our customers. Brother was first able to achieve the dream of our founding brothers, by changing Japan’s sewing machine business from an import- to an export-based industry. Since then, we have further strengthened our sewing machine business while also expanding our information and communications business globally, and implemented core changes to the Brother Group’s business structure. Nothing has delighted me more than contributing to the improvement of our industries and the benefit of our customers.

This year, the Brother Group marks one hundred years of business. After receiving this year’s great honor, I will continue doing my best to contribute to stronger manufacturing in Japan.
