The Balloon Dog represents the 4 separate ink cartridge system incorporated into Brother's color inkjet MFCs.
Since many inkjet printers use one cartridge to hold all 4 inks, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black, when only one ink color runs out, the customer has to throw away the whole cartridge. With Brother's 4 ink separate system, when one color runs out, the customer only has to replace the one color and still use the remaining ink for the other colors. This was explained through this cute Balloon Dog, which was born in Australia and became a popular worldwide icon.

PictBridge is a standardized technology that allows printing images from a digital camera directly to a printer without having to connect the camera to a computer.

Printer emulations are the languages that the printer uses to communicate with your computer when printing.

Generally speaking, the more emulations a printer supports, the more flexible it is when working with different types of computer system.

For example: If you have applications that require DOS support, you'll need one of the laser MFC products with PCL emulation. Most Brother laser MFC or Printer products offer PCL emulation, which is generally used for everyday office document printing.
